Description

 

Engine Controller Abbreviation: ECU is an electronic device that controls the operation of various parts of an internal combustion engine. The simplest ECU only controls the amount of fuel injected per engine cycle. The more advanced engine controllers found on modern cars also control ignition timing, variable valve timing (VVT), the level of propulsion maintained by the turbocharger (in turbocharged cars) and other peripherals. The engine controller monitors the engine through sensors to determine fuel injection, ignition timing and other parameters. These include: MAP sensor, throttle position sensor, air temperature sensor, oxygen sensor and many others. Typically this is done with a control system (eg a PID controller). Before the advent of the engine controller, most engine parameters were fixed, and the amount of fuel injected per cylinder per engine cycle was determined by the carburetor or fuel injection pump.

 

 

Characteristic

 

1. The air flow sensor converts the amount of air inhaled into an electrical signal and sends it to the engine controller, which is one of the important signals for determining the amount of fuel injection.
2. The absolute pressure sensor of the main pipe measures the throttle opening when the driver steps on the accelerator pedal to determine the output power of the engine.
3. The engine speed sensor is used to measure the speed of the engine to determine the basic fuel injection amount and the basic ignition advance angle.
4. The crankshaft position sensor is used to determine the fuel injection timing and ignition timing relative to the compression top dead center of each cylinder, and a cylinder judgment signal is also required on a sequential injection engine.
5. The oxygen sensor is used to measure the oxygen content in the exhaust gas discharged from the engine, which is an important signal for controlling the air-fuel ratio through a closed loop.
