Description
A pressure sensor, also often called a pressure transmitter, is a sensor that converts pressure into an analog electrical signal. While there are many types of pressure sensors, the most common are strain gauge based sensors. The conversion of pressure to an electrical signal is accomplished by physical deformation of strain gauges bonded to the pressure sensor diaphragm and connected to a Wheatstone bridge. The pressure on the pressure sensor causes the diaphragm to deflect and strain the gauge. This strain produces a change in resistance proportional to the pressure.
